The Treatment
Session:
Most Treatment sessions are
approximately 2 hours in duration. Longer
sessions allow the body to drop into the parasympathetic aspect of the
nervous system were deep healing takes place producing more dramatic
and lasting results. For maintaining balance and health once monthly
treatments are suggested. More frequent sessions address chronic
problems and help to shift habitual patterns. Most techniques are done
with the client dressed in comfortable clothing allowing for freedom of
movement. Gym shorts and a tank top allow for a synergy of Shiatsu and
Massage techniques done using oils on skin.
The first session includes discussing
medical history along with individual intentions and goals. An
assessment is made based on information provided along with pulse
reading and abdominal reflex palpation. More information is gathered
from the body tissues as the session proceeds. By the end of the
session I will be aware of where you hold tension, fascial
restrictions, the condition of joints, level of flexibility, cranial
rhythm, structural imbalances, energy level and the condition of the 12
major meridians of the body. I will use this information to form a
treatment plan that will best suit your individual needs. My goal is to
educate and guide you towards optimum health.
* Please Note that
transformational healing is not meant to replace conventional medical
treatment. It is best used as a complimentary therapy to assist in the
healing process and maintain health.
Explanation of
Techniques:
Listed are individual descriptions of
the various techniques that I have studied extensively. After years of
practicing and teaching I have developed a style that is a fusion of
the following modalities which I call Transformational Healing:
Shiatsu
is my primary modality. It is a form of
Japanese bodywork combining palm and finger pressure along with
rotation and stretching techniques to stimulate and promote health. It
is derived from Eastern Medicine and has the same theory as acupuncture
integrated with western anatomy and physiology. It works on the body's
energetic system, accessed through pathways of Ki (Chi / Prana) called
meridians. In Shiatsu the entire meridian system is activated which
works on all aspects of the body/mind. Meridians enter and help organ
function. Each of the 12 meridians has a mental, emotional and
spiritually balancing aspect as well. Treatments release muscular
tension and increase blood circulation enhancing healing, flexibility
and immunity. As the hormonal system balances and nervous system
relaxes the body feels at peace. Treatments also help to access the
subconscious mind. Developing a new sense of awareness, which may be a
clearing for new possibilities in life. Acupressure may be used on
specific points depending on assessment. Small magnets, hot stones, or
moxabustion, which is the process of using the mugwort herb to warm,
stimulate and activate a specific point, may also be used.
CranioSacral
Therapy (CST) is a very subtle
technique, which helps to adjust and balance the flow of the cerebral
spinal fluid and release restrictions in the spine, cranial bones and
fascia. It puts the body in position to release stuck energy. By
gently shifting structure you give the body direction and room for
change creating more space and flexibility physically, emotionally and
spiritually. Somatic
Emotional Release (SER)
involves cranial techniques, fascial unwinding and dialoguing to
release old holding patterns in the tissue. This encourages release of
physical and emotional trauma. It helps in transforming stuck behavior
patterns and limited belief systems, allowing for more freedom to
choose a life you love.
Kripalu
Massage is a moving
meditation. An energetic dance of touch and movement integrating body,
mind and spirit. This technique uses some of the same strokes as
Swedish massage and it is done using oils on skin. The mind set is to
provide balance and health by touching the heart and soul of the
receiver. It is done as a combination of slow flowing strokes with a
focus on muscles as well as the chakras and energetic systems. The
strokes may be light or deep depending on the receiver's
preference. Lomi Lomi is traditional Hawaiian Massage. It
involves rhythmic circular and fluid strokes imitating wave like
motions done with hands and forearms using oil on skin, combined with
rocking and stretching. Like Kripalu massage it also has a spiritual
component. I integrate these two elegant forms for the ultimate massage
experience. These two techniques are often integrated into
a shiatsu session.
Rossiter Technique This unique approach combines practitioner's(coach's) weight with active movement and stretching, elongating connective tissue which expands range of motion, increases flexibility and releases pain.
Japanese Stone
Massage is based upon Amna,
the oldest form of Asian Massage. Stones are used to stimulate
acupoints and meridians in order to restore the balance of ki in the
body. This is based on the same theory as acupuncture. Hot stones allow
heat to penetrate a tsubo point much like moxabustion. Both hot and
room temperature stones may be used to balance meridians based on
yin/yang and five-element theory. Benefits include reduction of stress
and muscular tension and pain, increased energy and immune function and
improved health. Stones may be used on skin or over clothing.

Thai Medical
Massage emphasizes pressing,
compression, rocking, and stretching techniques accessing inner
balance, harmony and peace. Like Shiatsu it works on the energetic
pathways. It works on the skeletal and muscular systems to promote free
movement. Enhances digestion and respiration. Calms the nervous system.
Activates the endocrine and lymphatic systems. The rocking motion
imitates the cranial rhythm, which reverberates in all the joints and
the spine. This releases old myofascial holding patterns, cellular
memory, and greatly increases flexibility.
Conscious
Breathwork involves
establishing a deep circular breathing pattern. This increases the
oxygenation of the body releasing blockages of energy flow, which have
been caused by previous trauma, and stress that is held at the cellular
level. Healing and deep relaxation is greatly enhanced by the breath.
It releases toxins, impurities, and repressed emotions that affect our
physical and mental health. Conscious breathing is a vehicle to connect
with our spiritual nature and a transcendental state of
consciousness.
EFT (Emotional Freedom
Technique) is based on the
premise that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the
body's energetic system. By using a system of tapping on specific
acupoints, EFT neutralizes limiting emotions which can block a person's
well being. The tapping sequence works by releasing stagnation in the
energy centers of the body and the subconscious mind.
Sotai is a Japanese technique that aids in the
proper alignment of the body. It is based upon both eastern medicine
and western anatomy. It combines breathing and movement in the
direction of ease against resistance. It releases muscular tension,
which is very often the cause for structural imbalances. Positional
Therapy is a western cousin to Sotai utilizing PNF stretching and
Muscle Energy Technique (MET). It involves
gentle stretching and resistance to realign and restore optimal
function to joints, release muscle tension, increase flexibility and
strengthen weakened muscles. Both Sotai and
Positional Therapy are great adjuncts to chiropractic treatments since
they assist the body in keeping the adjustments made.
Ear
Coning acts as a catalyst to
clear debris accumulated in the ear canal. The spiral cone and herbal
smoke work together through osmosis to draw the debris into the cone.
The process is noninvasive and relaxing. Through nerve endings and
acupoints located in the ear the process also taps into the energetic
flow corresponding to areas of the mind, body, and spirit clearing the
way for other methods of healing. It is helpful in removing excess
earwax, candida, and unblocking the ears and sinuses as well as
clearing the mind.
